Ready-made shelving often has limited sizes and shelf loads that don't suit heavy parts or specific spaces in a factory. Custom industrial racks make full use of your space and hold heavy goods safely.
Design Inputs
- What will be stored: size, weight per item and total load per shelf
- Number of shelves and spacing for easy picking
- Installation area, ceiling height and aisles
- How goods are handled: by hand, forklift or crane
Static vs Mobile
| Factor | Static | Mobile (on casters) |
|---|---|---|
| Load capacity | High | Depends on wheels and frame |
| Height | Can be taller | Should be lower to avoid tipping |
| Relocation | Not convenient | Movable, flexible layouts |
Safety
- Heavy items on low shelves, light items higher up
- Tall static racks should be anchored to the floor or wall against tipping
- Label the maximum load per shelf
- Mobile racks need brake casters and shouldn't be so tall that they rock easily
Racks for molds and heavy spares: shelves holding molds or heavy parts need thick plate or beams beneath them, and access designed for forklifts or mold carts. See mold carts.
Summary
Custom industrial racks let you store heavy goods safely and use your space fully, designed from the load per shelf, how goods are handled and your real space.
